This is a contract assignment. The hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. 

  • Post accounts receivable payments received in the check,credit card and ACH/Wire form accurately and timely.
  • Controls delinquent balances by preparing ,mailing, faxing,and/or emailing past due notices and strategic letters, as directed by Accounts Receivable Specialist
  • Establishes payment arrangements with customers and is assertive in enforcing payment terms
  • Participate in achieving aggressive DSO goals set by management
  • Maintains records by paperless method 95% of the time
  • Provides timely detailed updates on collection activity and customer information from value stream departments and from customers 
  • Participate in process improvements with value streams to improve collection of accounts.

This is a NEW transportation division of a local company so this Controller will be setting policy and establishing procedures, overseeing the financials, leading an accounting team of 1-2 people and overseeing overall office functions. It will report to the corporate accounting group and local VP. Other locations exist so there would be occasional travel to visit those terminals out of state.

This is a critical position for a relatively new division and Corporate would like for this person to take ownership of this facility to see what is needed to make it viable/profitable. The Hiring Manager would like to groom someone to take his place in the near future as well. This is an exciting opportunity to start from ground level and see the division grow. 

Ideal traits: someone who is confident, takes ownership, works well with upper management to provide financial reports/data, trouble shoots, streamlines processes, strategizes, etc. This will be a very hands-on role and in a fast-paced, high energy business. 

Total comp in the range of $105-110K with an $85-95K base salary plus bonus. 

This role requires an accounting or finance degree and prior experience as an accounting manager, supervisor, or controller.  The company would like someone with start-up experience to establish the processes and procedures for this division.

Newly created role for a growing company in the East TN Area!

This Controller is responsible for all Financial Accounting and Reporting for the $2 billion operation. This individual is responsible for leading the Accounting and Financial Reporting operations including monthly, quarterly and year end processes. This position will work closely with the President, CFO and accounting team on all aspects of the financial operations of the division.

The Controller will also work closely with the Executive team of the division with respect to providing support for strategic planning, financial oversight, and financial leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Participates as a member of the Senior Management Team in the financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the division’s mission and strategic plan.

• Assumes oversight of the functions of the Accounting Department to ensure completion of work in specified time frames according to division and corporate policies.

• Reviews and coordinates weekly and monthly financial projections 

• Proficient with and knowledgeable of all current General Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”)

 

This role will be a hands-on role requiring strong GAAP knowledge to ensure the financial processes are handled properly.  A strong team of 5-7 individuals is in place so experience mentoring/coaching is a huge plus.

The company wants a technically strong accountant who desires to grow, advance, learn in this new role.

Ideal background for consideration:

  • BS Accounting
  • CPA with public audit experience
  • manufacturing or construction experience as a Controller

CPA is required and public is preferred within the background.
